Tony Watson

Head Coach Tony Watson coached Karen Legg to World Records in 2000 and 2001 and the Sydney Olympics. Since joining in 1981 he has made an invaluable contribution with his junior and senior international experience. A former junior backstroke record holder, Tony is a member of the GB National Coaching Panel and has a Degree in Physical Education. He is a regular on the National Team’s coaching staff. Commonwealths 1998, 2002; Olympics 2000; World Championships 2001, 2003. Tony is an inspiration to Emma and helps to develop her as a good coach.

 
Emma Hirst

Emma, a former international swimmer, competed at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. She is an ASA Club Coach and has a BSc degree in Sports Development and Coaching Sciences.

Since 2002 she has been the Junior Coach and has continued to develop as an exceptional young coach. In 2003 Emma went on her placement year for her degree (3rd year of course) and visited many high profile swimming clubs and coaches in Australia. She has a huge wealth of experience, technical knowledge and above all enthusiasm which has made Ferndown’s juniors the huge success that they are. Emma also regularly assists Tony with the Senior Squad.

 Mark Taylor

A Qualified ASA Teacher; Mark was a Welsh International and swam for Wales at the Commonwealths and Olympics.  Although he works full time in the banking industry, Mark still finds time to make an invaluable contribution to the coaching team.  He works closely with both Tony and Emma and is appreciated by all the juniors for his encouraging approach. Mark was the Welsh Youth Squad coach from 1988 to 1992
